Data retention
How long KloudMate keeps your data depends on what it is. Logs and traces are kept for the window your plan sets, metrics for a year, and several other kinds of data have their own window.
This page lists every retention window, including the ones you can’t see in the product.
Plan retention
Section titled “Plan retention”Logs and traces are kept for the window your plan sets. This is the data you can query directly in the Log Explorer and the trace views.
| Data | Retention |
|---|---|
| Logs and traces | Free 7 days, Pro 14 days |
| Metrics | 1 year |
Metrics are billed by sample count rather than by how long they’re kept, so they’re kept for a year on every plan.
Logs and traces retention is set by your plan. See Subscription & Billing.
Metrics are tiered by resolution
Section titled “Metrics are tiered by resolution”A metric isn’t kept at full resolution for the whole year. Raw samples are kept for about 3 hours, then served from rollups at coarser resolution: a 15-day tier, a 63-day tier, and a long rollup kept for the full year. KloudMate picks the resolution for the range you query, so a chart over the last hour reads raw samples and a chart over the last quarter reads the long rollup.
Other retention windows
Section titled “Other retention windows”These apply to everyone, regardless of plan.
| Data | Kept for | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Session replay recordings | 7 days | The rrweb recordings behind a RUM session. Not archivable to Cold Storage. |
| Continuous profiling | 7 days | |
| Anomaly forecast bands | 7 days | The predicted band a forecast alert compares against. |
| Issue occurrences | 30 days | |
| Metric cardinality analytics | 45 days | |
| Endpoint (RED) history | 90 days | An hourly rollup, kept so request-rate, error, and duration history outlives raw trace retention. |
| RUM route metrics | 90 days | An hourly rollup of per-route performance. |
| RUM custom events | 400 days | An hourly rollup, so you can compare this quarter against last quarter. |
| RUM release health | 400 days | An hourly rollup, so you can compare a release against an earlier one after their raw sessions have aged out. |
Raw RUM data follows your plan retention. That covers sessions, errors, journeys, raw events, route visits, and the raw custom events behind the 400-day rollup.
Keeping logs longer
Section titled “Keeping logs longer”To keep logs beyond your plan retention, archive them to your own S3 bucket with Cold Storage. The archive lives in your AWS account at S3 storage prices, and you rehydrate a time range into the Log Explorer when you need to search it. Cold Storage archives logs only. Traces, metrics, and RUM aren’t archived.
